Independent Housing Initiative, Inc. is a Wisconsin nonprofit corporation with a mission to create nurturing and inclusive long-term housing for adults with intellectual, developmental, and/or physical disabilities that fosters their holistic development and provides a supportive community that empowers them to realize their goals, dreams, and expectations.

Our Vision is of a residential haven where individuals with disabilities enjoy a variety of safe, comfortable living options and a Jewish-inspired life of engagement, growth, and happiness.

The market need that Independent Housing Initiative is addressing with their community is substantial and increasing. There are far more adult residents of Wisconsin with IDD than there are safe, supportive, and affordable residential settings designed to accommodate their needs and wants through their lifespans.

Our Residential Model. We are planning to develop a setting that will be a safe, supportive, and affordable neurodiverse residential community in the Milwaukee, WI metro area for approximately 30-40 adults with intellectual, developmental, and/or physical disabilities and intentional neighbors without disabilities.

The IHI community will be developed in phases as a mix of for-sale and for-lease fully accessible residences to provide a range of options for individuals with disabilities that suit their individual needs, desires, abilities, and financial resources.
